With the Future Lab Aachen App on science tour

What connects Aachen Cathedral and multimedia specialists? The new science guide can tell you. The Future Lab App takes you on tour of 13 topic-focused stations of scientific interest – in Aachen‘s historic city centre and the RWTH Aachen University inner-city campus area.

The App guides you to known and unknown places, shows you what‘s going on inside the institutes, and offers insights into current research projects. In 46 compact, easy-to-follow feature articles, the guide profiles the most exciting scientific research projects currently running at Aachen‘s universities – from artificial nacre through special navigation vests for the blind to world champions in robotics.

Each of the 13 stations has its own topic: virtual worlds, the art of engineering, communication, energy, mobility, medicine and many other future issues. But the App also ex–plains oddities like a facade mosaic that depicts the surface structure of titanium in 14,000 x magnification, or takes you to fascinating sights like a historic steam engine.

To ensure that you can‘t miss them, the individual stations have information stands and signposts indicating what you can see there.

A 1,3 km tour with GPS-guidance, an audio guide, images, videos, expert statements, and, at selected stations: 3D objects (Augmented Reality).

Available in English and German.
