One of the highlights of Aachen’s “September Special 2016” event programme was a 3D pixel mapping show that, for four consecutive evenings, transformed the Town Hall into a futuristic light fugue.
From 15th to 18th September, around 25,000 visitors flocked to the Market Place to revel in the “Shine on, Aachen!” light show. The data required to accomplish the project were provided by, among others, Leif Kobbelt’s team from the Visual Computing Institute of the RWTH Aachen. The presentation was prefaced by a musically accompanied stage show with scientists and leading protagonists of Aachen as an innovation location. Also new, the stage at the Kármán Auditorium, which extends the string of traditional inner-city stages in the direction of the university and caters primarily for Aachen’s younger generation and students.
